Homepage Critique

I'm just about to launch a new homepage and wanted to get some feedback from fellow photographers before going live. The whole page is changing because text content is absolutely critical to having any type of presence on Google for a specific type of photography.

New Homepage Design

Current homepage (going away)

If you have any extra time, let me know what you think of the other pages.

New Photographs

Hello photo people! And non-photo people!

Does anyone want to do some modeling? I know someone in search of subjects for some artistic portraiture and/or fashion photography. He's just looking to expand his portrait portfolio, and he'll give you a couple nice (WHCC) prints in exchange.
If anyone is interested, please either leave a comment here, email Lucas at jlr@lucasreddinger.com or look for his posters up in the VCB.

This Friday I am having an opening in the Artspace Gallery at the Center for Arts in Jackson. I will be showing some new work from my Roseland project . If anyone is headed this way, stop by and see the show.

Mordancage

Does anyone know if you can go back and re-wet a mordancage(with water) and get rid of the some of the water spots or do i need to mordancage the print again to get rid of them? Feed back on prints would be nice too!

a quick self portrait

This was a quick and dirty self portrait i made due to boredom at home, also to see if I prefer fuji to kodak.  Does anyone have experience wet mounting on the scanners, to scan full frame without getting newton rings?

A Few Images

Here are just a few images I've taken while in the 260 class. They aren't necessarily connected, but I just wanted to make a first appearance on the blog and show of some of the images I've produced.

Important Building Access Announcement

Current students-

A Cat Card reader has been installed on one of the entrances to the VCB building: the upper-level entrance facing Grant street, near the main entrance to the Black Box Theater. Because of this, the building will now be "locked" on weekends and after 5 pm. Fear not, however, you should retain access to the building during the hours in which photo checkout is open. Should you arrive at the building and find your usual entrance securely locked, try using the Cat Card entrance to see if it yields passage to you. I am told that it should allow any current photo student to access the building, but my recommendation is that you test it, ideally on an evening or day which is not the evening or day before an assignment is due. During the week from 8 am to 5 pm may not be the best time to test your card's usability, since the doors will be unlocked regardless of the whether your card works or not, and you may get a "false positive" from the test. If your card doesn't give you access, see Colette in Film Checkout, who is our in-building contact for managing the implementation of this new lock system.

In summary, if you can't get into the building on Tuesday evening for Senior, or Saturday afternoon, try the Grant street entrance. Photo checkout is not changing the operating hours of checkout or the labs, but the times during which the exterior doors of the building will be locked and unlocked will be changing a bit.

NANPA Awards

One of our students received this scholarship last year. If you think your work fits at all, please consider applying.
North American Nature Photography Association

College Student Scholarship

The North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) makes scholarships
available to college students to attend the NANPA Annual Summit and Trade Show.
Students will convene each morning for breakfast to meet, listen, and speak to a
variety of invited guests. Throughout the summit, students will have the opportunity
to brainstorm, critique images, and talk with pros on a variety of subjects. The
Fourteenth Annual Summit will be held in Reno, Nevada from February 16-19, 2010.

Each applicant must submit 15 photographic images that best demonstrate the
diversity of his or her photographic skills and interests. The subject matter may
include, but is not limited to, nature. In addition, each applicant must submit a
collection of five nature-oriented images that express their interpretation of a
single theme or concept of their choosing.

Scholarship students must pay for their own transportation to the NANPA Summit, but
expenses for all events and photo instruction are covered. Students will also
receive a one year NANPA membership.

To qualify, applicants must be at least 19 years of age as of December 31, 2009, and
must be full-time college students in an accredited two or four year college,
university, or trade or vocational school. Applicants must also have a camera (film
or digital) that accepts interchangeable lenses. Past winners of NANPA's High School
and College Scholarships are not eligible to apply.

Deadline: November 9, 2009

'Hometown Pride'

FINALLY had a chance to photograph for Senior this past weekend. I'm focusing it around small towns and how a lot of attention is focused on High School athletics, much like the town I grew up in. I think I got a good start, but know there's oh so much more to be done...

Experimentations in Mordancage

Hey all. Just thought I'd post a couple of the images I made during our Experimental Mordancage demo.  I am in love with this process and I think this is the direction I am heading for my final.  The 2nd and the last image are mordancage/chromo combos.  Let me know what you guys think.

Exhibition Opportunity

Hey Everyone! Capelli's Salon called me looking for names of several photographers to display their work. It's a very cool venue and good opportunity to sell some pieces. If you are interested in showing there call them ASAP at 586-1332 or stop by the salon at 1401 Gold Ave (down the street from the food bank).
On a different note, I'm heading out to photograph an abandoned zoo on Belle Isle. If I am not eaten by the feral dogs that are reported to be wandering the area, I will update my blog with photographs from Cranbrook for you guys to check out.

A few new images

Many of you have been asking me what I've been doing photographically since I started grad school down here in Tucson. Well, here you go: four cyanotype collages. Feedback is always welcome and appreciated.

Morgan thingys, negatives

yes i know im not even close to the right word, but thats the way i like it. these were a few of the better images i got while mordancaging negatives. they are way harder to handle than an actual paper print but i almost like the effect better, having the highlights vail.

Woops

Let's play a game...
Why do you think Marta's Gum prints are looking weird?

Finding more Beauty!!

Here are some more images for the same project...!

Finding beauty...

Hey everyone! These are some of my images for my senior project. I am taking pictures of construction sites, trying to find beauty in something not thought as beautiful. Plus I think I am getting a sense of loneliness which I kinda like. Anyway, please let me know what you guys think. Gracias!
