I'm in Alternative Press!

So a little over a month ago I photographed a little band called The Used for a little magazine called Alternative Press. It's finally in circulation to subscribers. Of course I'm in Montana, my copy was sent to LA, and I have yet to actually see it in person.
When I got the call that I'd be photographing The Used I literally thought someone was playing a joke on me. The Used were part of the never ending soundtrack when I switched from Graphic Design to photography. It was kind of amazing to work with them as my first AP subjects. Such a great group of guys. I hope to get the chance to work with them again.

Which external hard drive to buy?

Hi everyone! I just filled my Lacie external hard drive- that took a few years! Anyone have any suggestions about the best on the market right now? Hope you all are having a good summer!

Assistant needed!

Hey guys! I'm coming back to Montana for a bit before going back out on Warped Tour and I have a few shoots lined up in Helena and Missoula. If anyone is interested and can help out it would be very much appreciated! Also if any of you know of anyone in Helena or Missoula with light stands I could borrow for a few hours, I'd love you forever. Those are the only things I haven't figured out how to pack.
Here's the details...

Tuesday July 28th in Helena: Portrait shoot

August 3rd in Helena: Portrait shoot

August 11th (tentatively) in Missoula: Warped Tour off day shoot with a bands on the tour.

The Missoula shoot should be a lot of fun! Also if any of you have been considering working with bands, it would be a good chance to see how a shoot is handled with bigger musicians. Email me if interested... megan@meganthompsonphotography.com

I am finally getting into my studio to scan some images. It is a bit tough when the weather is so gorgeous outside. (Norita 66)

My Website

Hey everyone! So my website is up finally, but still under a bit of construction. I would appreciate any feedback that anyone could give me. This is my first website and I'm still working out the kinks. Since it is through Visual Server I can't quite customize it exactly how I want it, but I think it is a good starting point, especially since wedding clients want to be able to view my work. I don't know, see what ya think :) Hope everyone is having a great summer.

Polaroid from summer

This is a polaroid that I took about a month ago, I am thinking about expanding on a concept like this, any suggestions?

Gates of Lodore

Recently spent four days on the Green River in Colorado. I've found that rafting gives plenty of opportunity for photography as the landscape is constantly evolving while you float by.

Camera insurance?

Hello everyone! Wow it has been a long time since I've talked to any of you or posted on this blog. Mostly I've been rambling about in Alaska for the past year, being unemployed and hanging out with brown bears. Now I'm headed to South America for a couple of months to further avoid the whole "reality" thing. So I'm looking to get some insurance against theft or damage (self inflicted or otherwise) and I was wondering what everyone here uses. I've heard some good things about state farm, but I'm looking for cheap insurance to cover about $2,500 worth of gear. Any recommendations? Also, here are some random photos of bears. Hurray. `Danielle Elliott

4x5 color film

I have leftover Fujicolor Pro 160S 160 iso 4x5 color film from last semester if anyone is interested in buying it from me. I have one full unopen box and an open box (that should be fine) that has I think 4 sheets in it. I'm willing to sell the two boxes together for $23.00. Email me at tessalykins@gmail.com if you are interested or have questions.

Bozeman Survey (.org)

Twitter role call...

So I know Camden, Zak, and Ty are on Twitter. Anyone else? I want to make sure I'm keeping up with any of you who are on it. Mine's twitter.com/meganthompson. If you don't have one, I really suggest you get one! Twitter is how I get a lot of work these days, including working with blink-182, so don't knock it till you try it.

Photomatix

So i tried the trial version of photomatix and it does make things so easy. It is also allot faster than photoshop. Thanks for telling me about it.
