Deerfield River Watershed

So I've been plodding around the Deerfield River Watershed in Massachusetts for my research grant and am starting to make photographs (as well as kayak).  Here are a couple quicky proof scans of what I have so far.  I am still finding direction, but any feedback is welcome.

Mystic Lake Recon Mission

Mark Lee and I took a hike towards Mystic Lake for a reconnaissance mission for my summer grant. Armed with 2 Holgas, some trail mix, and 2 pairs of Chacos, we set out on a rainy Saturday. To see more images (and to find out if we survived) check out my blog, Circles of Confusion.

New school, Old school

This is a good article on NPR that talks about the resurgence of the old school. I feel like this seems to be true concerning art, fashion, music, etc. in today's culture. What do you think? Are you old school, new school, or new old school?

Photo books

Has anyone made a photo book with Blurb's new pro line?  I'm not thrilled with their normal quality books, but they have new paper choices and I was wondering if anyone had tried them out and what they thought of it.  Thanks!

New York Photo Fest Review

An interesting point brought up by a rather negative review of the New York Photo Festival that happened last weekend. Let's all buy Iphones and become successful photojournalists.

Aidan needs help

Hey everyone. Im down here in South America, took the semester off to do a photo project. My camera and everything got stolen (Canon 5dMKII, Canon 85mm 1.2 II, Canon 24mm 1.4 II, Canon 50mm 1.4, 580EXII, memory cards, batteries AND my harddrive with all my photos).
I feel more motivated and inspired down here than I have I think ever, and now without a camera, as frustrated as I've ever been.
If anyone has a camera they are trying to get rid of, I would love to get in touch with you. I still have three months down here, and want more than anything to be able to make photographs. Im sure you all understand. I want to shoot film, medium format or large, if theres a mamiya rb, rz, 6, 7, or hasselblad, old toyo field camera, anything I think except a Cambo (too big to travel with) but really I'll take anything.
On the bright side, I'm in South America.
Thanks guys, I really really really appreciate it.
See you all in the fall, with photos or not.
Aidan

I got all three of my least favorite light sources in one picture!

1. Tungsten (on right)
2. Sodium-vapor (on left)
3. Lightning (way too close to me)
D300, 30 seconds @ F/5.6, ISO 200. Used a Sigma 17-50/2.8 stabilized (which is now a manual focus lens because of the rain)

Latest of my Me as a Meth head series

I have finally decided to finish my digital self project from Adv. Color. The photoshop is a little rough but i am getting better at the techniques. Only two more in-depth grotesque images to go, and trust me they get worse. If anyone has any suggestions....let me know.
