Need Help!

These images are sample of my senior project. I am trying to decide wether I should keep the scoreboard or not. I am not sure if it is too distracting.  Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I like them both without. But on the last image his pant legs have some masking issues from the added blur

These are great, Nubia!

Great job Nubia I really like the 2nd and 4th one. The blur helps keep your focus on the player and not the fans. Keep it up, and I can not wait to see more.

i think the blur is a little to much maybe tone the opacity down a little it looks fake

leave the score board out

If you have the score board it should have the clock running out and the score very close. Just to add some tension. Other wise it is a obscure shape that dominates the viewers attention.
I do love the images!!

If you were working for a publication you wouldn't be able to do any blurring or removal of the scoreboard in photoshop as it's considered an unacceptable practice in the industry.

Personally I like the unedited shots because they show it "how it was". There's nothing wrong with the scoreboard being in the photo. When covering a sporting event make sure you move around. Shoot it from every angle you can think of. Shoot a ton of photos. You should walk away from a game like this with 100-300 photos to choose from.

Think about things like distracting backgrounds while you're there and solve the problem in-camera because as I mentioned before, you could get fired from a newspaper or magazine for manipulating the photo after the fact.

By the way, I think these photos are well done. The exposure is good and you captured the action perfectly. Basketball is one of the toughest sports to photograph.
