For me, these are working well. I'm still having a small issue with seeing the whole face though, but I think you said that you wanted to show more than just an eye or something. The lighting looks nice, too. Are you using window light?
I am really enjoying these portraits you are taking. They are very unique and interesting. I like that you're doing them in Black and White too. I enjoy that it is about the subject and not distracting because of color. These are looking sweet and I'm excited to see more.

yeah its window light plus a little desk light that i held for strategic illumination...
