I scanned in some negatives from a negative space assignment we had for 264 and I'm interested to know what everyone thinks. They had good reviews in class, but I think they where just being nice. Kidding. I have an interest in the way the darkness draws you eye to the lit image and I also did something similar for my 106 final. This is something that I wish to continue in a series, any suggestions or critics?
the first six are very successful and i feel like they hone down the focus of your 106 final. I have trouble with the last two because with the multiple light sources and lack of detail in those light sources my eye ends up wandering around the image, which i feel is the opposite of your goal with this project.
I'm not sure I'd call these negative space images. The 4th, 6th, and 7th images are successful to me, but the rest of them don't really seem to have any negative space; there's still a lot of shapes and details for me to look at in the shadow areas, which for me takes away from the idea of negative space.
The top one has successful negative space, but is a little heavy. The black in the top 3rd doesn't really contribute anything to the composition of the image, so I'd almost rather see it cropped out.
Nice images overall though. I think this could be the beginning of a really good long term project.
I think 2,4,and 6 are the most successful for me, The light ares in the other ones dont really hold my attention as well. I agree with Camden keep working on it, it can be a strong project.

I love this series in black and white! I think your images all go with your negative space idea except the last two but well done!
