what is the significance of the dotted lines and dots? is it about human geography?

Dan, I am interested in South African traditions of patterning and mark making. Also, Lena makes her living from beading, so it is a direct reference to that.

Ian, I like the juxtaposition of this image that looks like it should be so traditional with the fact that she is wearing a polar fleece jacket. I think it helps make you point well.

The glow of her portrait is what pulls me in. This is a very soft, beautiful portrait and the graphic design aspects of the dots, squares and paint strokes bring a very interesting message to the whole work. I'd love to see this piece in person.
