I think these are a good start if your end goal is astrophotography. Generally it's best to really commit to one direction or another. Specifically to show star trails, think in terms of exposures over 2-3 hours while being mindful of the location for light pollution. You could also mount the camera to a dual axis, polar aligned mount to get crisp stars and constellation portraits.
