Today I came across a bird photographer (aviagrapher?..heh) who loves his craft so much that after a day of shooting, came back with his D3 looking like this:
It made me feel guilty for the days I have decided not to bring a camera along, for the days I decided to go shoot "tomorrow," and for the days I procrastinated until the good light was gone and it was already lunch time (or bed time). You can see the images he took here.Apparently the camera still works great, after a bit of cleaning and drying of course.

I dont know, trashing your equipment doesnt say "photographer worth his salt" to me. I know im protective of my equipment and all but if your gear is abused, good luck shooting anything. Also, the best camera is the one you have with you.
I think we all have that mindset because none of us can really afford the gear that is designed to work in environments like this guy works in... I would never do that to my 5D
