Vik Muniz

I had a chance to visit the Museu de Arte de Sao Paolo this morning (free on Tuesdays!) and saw a special exhibit by photographer Vik Muniz. You may already know his work, but if not, check out the link above. Interesting stuff...I really enjoyed his "Pictures of Garbage" series in which he collaborated with people who live and work in the largest garbage dump in the world in Rio to create portraits of them with stuff from the dump. Check out this video that shows Vik making the original photograph and then a time-lapse of the creation of the final piece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tdgn6uiIq2Y. He was born here in Sao Paolo but apparently lives and works in NY. Here's a quick snapshot of the museum (the special exhibit hall is underground):

Ian, his prints were HUGE! It made me think of you and how you like large prints. Actually, I was thinking about how much it would cost to print that large!
