Stolen Camera in VCB

A student had a camera stolen out of their backpack in the VCB today. This is awful to think that someone is walking around the building looking for things to steal. Please keep an eye on your equipment as well as the equipment of your friends. Do not leave gear unattended.

here are the first three diptychs. eyes open may represent the way we as an audience view the man. and the eyes closed could represent the soldier recollecting the story that he is telling...(there will be a written component) what do you think of white shirts for all of them? how about overt versus direct gaze? is the lighting working? how about the black background?

ADV. Color Final

These are unedited images from my adv. color final book project. The book will consist of 25-30 cross processed portraits of people from behind with the adjacent page being a handwritten anecdote about their life. Let me know what you guys think. The start of an on-going series

I'm thinking of starting a series on woman, I know it's very winogrand, and these are some beginning images. The film it's self is very thin and the image of her welding is from the second batch I over developed. I hope to photograph her later this week and set up another portrait with some fill light and really work on getting one great portrait. This however was my first time out to her shop and I wanted to explore how I wanted to photograph her. Let me know what you think. Keep in mind I quickly photoshopped these, they are really gelatine silver prints, and I didn't them dust well.

Sticking to Your "Photographic Ego"

I came across this blog post this morning and I really like what it says about finding your style. The blog post points out that we need to be open to criticism (especially when starting out), but then we also need to stick to our guns so to speak when we are at a point where can begin to define our style - as long as we can defend what we're doing and why we're doing it that way. Check it out.
