Checking in from Columbia, MO
Hello ladies and gents. Here's me, Justin the Stewart, checking in from Columbia, MO. I'm working at the Columbia Daily Tribune down here as a Imaging Tech/Web Editor/Photographer. Thought I'd do a post for those of you who don't keep up with me on my Facebook photo page.
The first two are my main job. I pick up scraps on the photography part. It's also not an official part of my title. But that's okay, I'm still getting to take pictures and get paid for it. Gotta start somewhere.
Here's my two biggest assignments yet, a United Way breakfast and a high school soccer playoff game. I also shot another thing, but that was just awards the paper was giving out for their recipe contest and I don't believe it was for putting in the paper.
Hope everyone is enjoying the weather up there. It's really rough when I'm having to walk home from work in 60 degree weather ;)

Thesis so far
I wanted to show a part of what I've been working on this semester for Senior to the rest of the photo-sphere. I have been conducting self portraits of myself as female relatives to find a connection between us. This is my grandmother Eleanor Courtney she is my father's mother. Haven't decided to pair the two photographs or display them separately, Input is must appreciated.

Mitchell Feinberg’s 8×10 Digital Capture Back
"The development and production of two backs (I wanted to have a spare) was equal to the cost of a good size house – before the housing crash. I know it sounds insane, but the financials on it are not so bad: I used to shoot on average 7.5 Polaroids per photo, and I shoot between 400 to 500 images a year. That’s at least 3000 Polaroids. At 15 bucks a pop. Or about 50K per year, minimum.
"We never set a unit price, but it would be in the low six figures.
"The device creates images a bit over 10MP; when cropped to correspond to 8×10 the final image size is 3285 x 2611.

Get Ready for the next

A traveling portfolio exhibition created and curated by photography students
In an effort to get photography students to look at and evaluate the work of their peers from around the country, The Metro Photo Club has started a traveling exhibition series titled 16 by 16 by 16. The hope of these exhibitions is that they will include work made and chosen by students from schools around the country and they will travel to and be displayed at each of the schools throughout the school year.
This was a huge success this spring. Let’s do it again.
How it all works:
All photographs (vertical, horizontal, square) will be matted to 16 X 16 inches
The same color/type of mat board must be used for each print in the portfolio
Sixteen students will be represented from each school
Each student in the department may submit two photographs for consideration but only one photograph will ultimately be exhibited
Students may be from all class levels
The final sixteen prints representing your school must be chosen by students currently enrolled in the photography program (how you do this is up to you…panel, voting, etc)
The 16 matted photographs must be packed in a reusable container for transport to the other schools.
Each school will host “an exhibition” of the work of students from the other schools, ending with an exhibition of your initial submission (need not be formal)
Work will be mailed to each of the schools in a “round robin” fashion with each school paying the shipping fees associated with shipment. (FedEx Ground should be able to do this for under $15 each time)
Exhibitions will run for one week starting in the Spring 2013 semester/quarter with one week between for packing/shipping/installing
The final exhibition of a school's photographs will be at that school near the end of the spring semester.
Deadline for Submission Monday December 3rd in the Photo Studio
