Negative Mordancage
These are prints from the 4x5 negatives I worked on in Experimental last week. I'm pretty happy with the results given it was my first time doing anything with the mordancage process, but there is definitely a lot of room for improvement. Aside from the obvious aesthetic effect, other things I noticed when I printed these were a decrease in negative density (3-4 stops in the enlarger), a significant drop in contrast (2.5 filter before, 4.5 after), and an almost total loss of highlight detail where it hadn't veiled. If you have patience, a gentle touch, and don't mind an imperfection here, there, or everywhere, I'd recommend trying it!

Minor Schedule Adjustment for Thanksgiving Week
All-
I've made an adjustment to the posted photo lab schedule for Fall 2010. The change applies only to one day: Wednesday, November 24th-- the day before Thanksgiving. The term calendar indicates that there will be no classes this day, so I've adjusted the checkout calendar to reflect that the photo labs will be closed on that date. If you are interested in obtaining a copy of the updated schedule, they are available at Photo Checkout, or can be downloaded from here (PDF).
One other caveat about the schedule relating to December... whichever evening the Senior Photo show is scheduled, photo checkout and the labs will be closing at 5pm. Details will be posted as the event solidifies.

A couple pinhole photos from Burning Man
These were shot on expired Provia 100F on my 6x12 pinhole, then processed in C-41 and scanned under the film profile for Kodak Portra 160VC 6x6. I'm looking forward to doing it better next year!
This one was from the same camera, but with Delta 100. The flowers were hooked up to propane tanks and shot fire all night.

stuff from the summer
HELP!
Does anyone know why sometimes it take so long to download images? I'm working for a photographer and I am trying to download like 42 images, they are large files, to a portable drive and it says it's going to take 3 hours??? I figured 20 minutes at the most but not 3 hours, and then when I try to download just 5 images to their ftp site it says 13 hours! What can I do to fix this problem?
The images are 2000ppi and like 2.5 x 3 or something like that. 120 Negatives basically.

Here comes winter
Wednesday night my friend and I hiked in to Elbow Lake and Mt Cowen to retrieve a gear stash a maybe do some climbing before winter hits the alpine for good. This was taken Thursday morning at about 7 am. Friday we were able to climb the 1800' face directly in the middle of the image. Good luck with classes everyone, cant wait to see what you do!

I need some help
I was recently just on a trip with a friend. We used his Nikon D300s for video and stills. I tried to download all the files and convert to DNG but it would not convert nor even read the .NEF files that come form Nikons. I have CS3 and tried to find all of the current updates but still cannot get Photoshop or CameraRAW to read the files. If anyone know how to fix this situation please let me know. thanks
