I think the portrait is more affective. I'd like to see more of these. It's interesting to consider the possible relationship between this man and his location.
For my book I want to do a social document project of bozeman and surrounding areas. This idea came from studying Stephen Shores, Gurtsky's, Sternfield's, and Soth's work. I plan on combining portraits and landscapes to capture a feeling of time and place.
The vast open spaces are working well. It speaks to living in Big Sky country. I like the carefully constructed formal aspects of the gas pumps way in the distance. If you keep these open spaces consistent between the landscapes and portraits I think they will work well together.

You know I like the portrait, though
Haha, at least your looking out for me. You know photographers names never make it into spell check.
