It took forever but I'm done!

I finally finished editing my book. It's 142 pages, and has 199 pictures. I worked on it for ten straight hours yesterday to just get it done! I'm stoked.

Oh. Hello.

So I've decided to simultaneously get over my fear of A. posting on this thing and B. posting self-portraits in general. Pretty sure the break has given me some kind of illogical bravery...
Anyway. The image is a left-over from one of Ian's 260 assignments. Hope everyone's Christmas is/was some sweetness!

SPE Opportunities

Just got an email back from SPE about student volunteering. How many of you are interested in going? It would be nice to plan a road trip down there and share the costs. "Student volunteers will be able to attend the conference for a greatly reduced conference fee of $25. Most of the volunteers will help with the lectures. Other volunteers will help with the auctions, portfolio sessions, registration, etc. Each volunteer is required to work eight hours (spread over the conference) and must attend one of the training sessions on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 from 4-6 pm or in the evening from 9-11 pm. A late, final training session is Thursday, March 13, 2008 from 8-10 am. Volunteers attending the Wednesday training will be given preference in assignments. All volunteers need to pre-register for the conference and be 2008 members of SPE. The postmark deadline for volunteer registration is February 14, 2008. Volunteers and Scholarship recipients are invited to participate in the popular Student Seminar on Thursday morning, March 13, 2008 from 9 am to noon with Susan kae Grant, Hannah Frieser and Dennis Keeley. This special seminar is only open to student volunteers and scholarship recipients. More information about the Student Seminar will be available on the SPE website: www.speanational.org. The student volunteer registration form has not yet been posted on the website, but should be ready shortly. Please check back soon: www.spenational.org. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.

Senior Show

We had a great critique on Friday! So, thanks to all those who attended and gave their input. Now we have the Senior Photo Show to look froward to. The show is on Wednesday December 12, from 7-10p.m. in the Fairgrounds building #1. I want to urge everyone who views this blog to come to our show. There'll be appetizers, a cash bar, music and some super-sweet photography! So, tell anyone and everyone, spread the word!!!

THE PHOTO DEPARTMENT NEEDS YOUR HELP!!

As you’ve probably heard, John Hooton is retiring at the end of next semester. There is a real possibility that the Dean of Arts and Architecture will not rehire his position. Instead, they may take our third faculty line away, to presumably hire another film professor. The removal of the third faculty would hurt our department drastically; instead of a new third professor to improve our classes it would strain Chris and Ian with extra responsibilities. We all know how much John, Chris, and Ian have put into our program to get where it is today and the removal of the third faculty would result in the DISSOVLING OF OUR PHOTOGRAPHY OPTION- AS WE KNOW IT- OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS!!! This absolutely sordid, disgusting, and wrong to me and I hope it is to you too! This is a bad idea, period. I plan on writing the Dean a letter in opposition of this decision IMMEDIATELY, and I encourage you all to do the same. Please spread the word to your art and film friends, as well. AS STUDENTS, WE PAY THESE PEOPLE. THEY WORK FOR US!!! Here’s her address: Susan Agre-Kippen Dean- College of Arts & Architecture Cheever Room 217 Montana State University-Bozeman 59717

Another new project

I just posted a statement and a few images from another project on my blog:
http://camdenhardy.blogspot.com

I didn't post them here to avoid redundancy. Input would be much appreciated.

cable vs air release

These two photos I took in hopes to figure out where I wanted to go with this portrait project. With the further away shots I think I'll change and shoot color, more like the janitor and crossing guard images. With the closer ones I'll keep the same aesthetic.

Turn Ons

These are the images from my short book for 260. I am confident in them technically, but am wondering whether i got across the statement i was trying to make about the dominance electronics have in our modern lives. I would love some feedback!
