Quit worrying about your camera.

  • This was taken recently by a photographer in Manchester, UK, using a 6 megapixel Canon Digital Rebel from 2003 and the 18-55mm zoom lens included in the box.
  • Lighting was two Vivitar 285 flashes with umbrellas. Cheap manual speed lights made since the 80's.
  • You don't need a 5D Mark III. You don't need a D800.
  • Don't be afraid to admit you want one, but it will not make your photography any better than it is now. It will more than likely just distract you from improving.

These cameras are great as long as you are not planning on printing larger than 16x20. Some of my favorite photos were shot with my old 10d. Speaking of which, that 10d is for sale. It's 6mp from 2003 and will take pictures at least as good as this one.
