The Hope Machine

To anyone interested, I am offering the Hope Color Processor that used to be at school free to anyone interested in taking on a large project such as this. It includes everything needed to run (please see a more detailed list at link above), except the Chemicals. You will also need a truck, a good water supply, and a permanent space to put it. I use the word free with caution, as it would take a few headaches and money to run this machine.

Photography Internship

This is an unpaid, for-credit (3) internship in a busy news bureau environment. The hours (6 per week) are flexible and based on the student’s class schedule. Assignments may occur on evenings or weekends.

The successful intern will possess the following attributes:

Professional appearance and demeanor.

Strong work ethic.

Punctuality and willingness to be a part of a team.

* The MSU photographers interact regularly with senior MSU leadership and State government officials. Professionalism and maturity are a MUST.

Necessary skills:

Junior or Senior in good standing within the School of Film and Photography.

Experienced with Adobe Photoshop and Mac computer platform.

Interest and willingness to learn the craft of editorial photography.

During the course of the internship the intern will gain experience with the following:

These are undusted, unprocessed scans of images for my final. The bottom one is a scan of a chromoskedasic mordancage. The top image is the vision i had for this image that I totally ruined, therefore it is a digital composite of a scan of the original chromo (different print than the bottom) and a mordancaged print. Which do you guys enjoy most?

For Lovers of Ice

The UN Climate Change Conference has started in Copenhagen, where the photographer James Balog will present work by a team of photographers that have been documenting the melting of glaciers. The photographs taken are simple and scientific, but I hope they will demonstrate to people what the melting of ice will mean to the world and that much of the ice will be gone before we know it. Everyone too, should keep their fingers crossed that leaders meeting in Denmark this week will find an agreement that will drastically cut world emissions.

Panels @ the senior show

Hey Amanda (and/or Chelsea) how many panels does each person get in the middle? One, or two? Happen to know the dimensions? I'm guessing they're the same ones as were in Upheaval..?

Modification of Checkout Hours for Senior Show

This semester's Senior Show is coming right up, on Tuesday, December 15th, and to facilitate and encourage the attendance of all students, photo checkout will be closing earlier on that date than the printed schedule indicates, at 5 pm instead of 10 pm. Photo Checkout will be closing at 5 pm on Tuesday, December 15th, instead of 10 pm. If you have work due on Wednesday, please consider this factor when planning your work schedule next week. Aside from this change, the printed and distributed photo checkout hours of operation should remain as-scheduled for the remainder of the semester. In case you were wondering, photo checkout will be open until 5 pm on Friday, December 18th, the final day of the semester, and will be formally closed after that date until the spring semester begins in January.

What is the best screen calibrator?

I was interested in possibly getting a screen calibrator. Anyone have any recommendations? I want a good one that gives you the same screen calibration each time you run it, not one that gives you a different result each time you run it lol.

Behold! Framing Point Driver!

'Tis the season for finishing, so students may be interested to know that Photo Checkout has a framing point driver available to check out. This was generously donated by Professor Anderson earlier this semester, and it seems to coincidentally have a color scheme matching the school colors. Go Cats! This may not have much application for those of you simply matting or mounting photos, but for those of you doing framing work, this device will drive tab-like points into the side of a wooden frame (sorry, it won't function properly with metal frames), holding the work in place. Stop by checkout sometime to have a look at it if you're curious. And if the worker on duty doesn't seem to know what you're talking about, have them check "the drawer with the tacking iron."

New York City

I just got around to scanning my film from a recent trip to New York. It was 5-year expired Velvia that was cross-processed, and I did little or no color correction. What do you guys think?

Free Chair and $15.00 Desk

Hey everyone! As you know I'm moving at the end of the semester and I am in the process of packing. I have that office chair that I'm wanting to get rid of and the desk that is in great condition. The chair is free and the desk I am hoping to get at least $15.oo for. Is anyone interested?????? Let me know soon. You can pretty much come and get them anytime you want.

Seniors!

ok guys the shows comin up quick, i hope everybody is preparing for what they will need to display your work since this is completely in your hands. Me and amanda will glady answer any question and do what we can for you but you all need to come prepared to hang your work yourself. As I have told all of you each person will get 2 lights for the show, there maybe a few extra for people if some are not used, this will be a first come first serve basis. I personally will be purchasing an extra lamp or two for myself to be safe on lighting. the rest of your may want to consider this if you are concerned that two will not be enough. Thats all let me know if there are any questions. chelsea

i have become so fascinated with the way film takes in color in such a different way than digital. these were night shots of neon lights taken with 35mm. iv never really had a chance to work with color film before and the results i think are beautiful.

Dear Students, I am looking for someone who is interested in being an administrator of the Bozeman survey Website (www.bozemansurvey.org ) as an independent study. This would ideally be someone who is a Sophomore or Junior who is also interested in participating in the project. said person should be fairly web savvy.
