here are the first three diptychs. eyes open may represent the way we as an audience view the man. and the eyes closed could represent the soldier recollecting the story that he is telling...(there will be a written component) what do you think of white shirts for all of them? how about overt versus direct gaze? is the lighting working? how about the black background?

Im loving these! very nice job with the exposure on the white shirt.
I think you could really go crazy with different theories regarding the questions you asked as far as white/black and where they are looking goes. Eye contact definitely tends to make a more direct connection with the viewer, but having them gaze slightly to the side gives the photo a bit more of an introspective feel...depending on what you're trying to get at. And as far as the shirt and background contrast goes, I like it. Kandinsky said "Clarity is a tendency to the white and obscurity is a tendency to the black," maybe you could work with something along those lines.

these are awesome hunter, the diptych idea works very well I think, especially with the last two
oh man! I love the 3rd set. These are great Hunter!
I love the gestural differences among the men even though they are composed similarly. Great work! I think conceptually and visually they hold up very well.
These are great! I like both the direct and overt looks-- to me when they are looking into the distance they have a similar feel as to when they have their eyes closed. Great light and I love your concept.
thanks guys
