Web Hosting and Websites!!
Hello everyone, I just wanted to post this and probably will post it again in a month but I wanted everyone to know that if they are thinking about getting a website, or getting hosting and making their own website, that I can get you 50 percent off for life with Sharkspace Hosting, a hosting company I have used for the past few years and have been wonderful. If you want more details let me know.
Also, regarding websites, I can also design (pretty much anything graphics wise) websites with slideshowpro (tailored to your design), which is my all time favorite image viewer for photographers. If you would like more details about that, also let me know...
millertime07msu@gmail.com is my email.
Thanks!

yeah i just got slideshow pro, so if you got any tips or anything useful that you have encountered while working with it would be greatly appreciated.
ya man - what all did you get? just slideshow pro for flash, or for lightroom, ssp director, etc...?
How much is it per month? Does it depend on what sort of package you get? Do they have templates if I don't want to design my own at this point?
i got pro for flash, i would really like it if you can give me a tutorial sometime this weekend.
hosting can be whatever, but I recommend sharkspace, I have used them for about 2 years and have ran quite a few websites with them (with other people). There are two packages, with the half off for life (granted they havent stopped doing it in the last two months) would be 60 a year and 108 a year, which is super good. I have done a crap load of research on hosts and sharkspace is one I definitely recommend. www.sharkspace.com Note that domain names cost 10 dollars a year, so your looking at 70/yr for 20gb 500gb bandwidth/mo package or 108/yr with 100gb and 1TB bandwidth.
Ian, I wish I was there right now because using SSP for flash is easier explained in person, but SSP does have a great WIKI section that should clear up some questions. If not I can try to help. I return in January for the spring semester.

A few things that might help off the bat. Before I explain how to make the XML file and whatnot, I highly recommend getting SlideshowPro Director, (granted you have your own hosting and stuff, or if not yet def let me know and I will hook you up with sharkspace)because that will eliminate any need for making an xml file, coding, or anything of the above. All you would need to do is customize your instance of the SSP for flash using their menu of options, and then export it as an SWF. with SSP director installed on your hosting server, which I could do if you decided to go that route, all you would have to do is type in your domainname.com/ssp_director and it would take you to a login page where you would log in and then manage all your photos from a really sweet interface, where you can rename photos, choose how thumbnails look, enter descriptions and change the order of your images, and upload images using an easy to use uploader, comparable to facebook or flickr. This is what I use and its great, in the long run its a ton better than updating xml files and uploading images via ftp.
Let me know what your thoughts are about what you would like to do. If you can wait till January that would be best, but if not thats fine I could help you get it up and running fairly soon, and it would be really easy with SSP director.
Did you just buy SSP for flash, or do you have hosting and all that already?
i just bought ssp for flash, i already have a hosting through Jon Long. ive been trying to read the wiki site and work things out for myself but its a foreign language. i have no idea what i am doing. i really need this before jan. so that doesnt really help, do you know of anyone else that would know how to work this program and write xlm docs.
Kelly Gorham uses Slideshow Pro on his website. Although I think he uses the Lightroom plugin verison.
