USP Proposal Deadline, Friday December 3rd
Are you interested in financial support for an upcoming project? Apply for the USP grant. Info is below. (Please do this early, so your faculty can support your application. It's crunch time for all of us, prepare ahead of time and not the day of.)
USP provides funding for students to pursue
research and creative projects under the direction of faculty mentors.
Support includes a stipend and funds to offset project-related expenses
up to a total of $1500 for the academic year. Maximum
spring semester funding is $750. We encourage proposals from all
disciplines and departments across the university and endeavor to fund
all worthy proposals. USP funding gives students the opportunity to
learn-by-doing and also can benefit faculty research
and creative activity by engaging undergraduates in projects supporting
long-term scholarly goals.
Please consult the USP website (http://www.montana.edu/usp/) for detailed information on deadlines. Proposals should
be written by students with advice and editorial assistance from faculty mentors. The USP website includes
step-by-step directions and links to all necessary
forms. Other student research opportunities available through USP include
INBRE for projects related to biomedical research and the
Beckman Scholars Program for research in chemistry and the biological sciences. Examples of successful projects are available in the
archive. Contact Colin Shaw (colin.shaw1@montana.edu) or Scarlet Reierson (scarlet.reierson@montana.edu)
if you have questions.
