So it seems there is a limit of 100 authors on our blog. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions of where to go from here?

Twitter anyone?

Yesterday I wrote up a post on my blog about Twitter. I've been thinking about it more since then, and I thought I'd try and get a discussion going here about it.

It seems like a potentially awesome means of communication, but it would require some effort from those involved. The most promising use that I've heard of, and what I would really like to see happen in the photo realm, is a public instant messenging forum. We all use our phones to send/receive text messages; why not have roaming discussions with several people at a time whenever a thought pops into our heads?

Does anyone here use it? Would anyone be interested in expanding our little blog community into the micro-blogosphere? How practical is this sort of thing, really? Is it just another trend, doomed to die a horrible death, or is there some value in the technology?

I'm passing the time in LA until we find a house by editing and reworking some photos left over from Bozeman. This one is my friend Andy. I took it the week before I left as part of a silly project about growing up. The shoot was meant to be during the day but scheduling kept getting messed up, so it ended up at night.

The second is a portrait of my friends Annie and AJ from Billings.

Last week we went to the Getty and saw an exhibit with August Sander and Bernd and Hilla Becher. It was incredible! Sander's portraits are absolutely beautiful in person. I could have gotten lost in that exhibit for hours!

I'll keep you all updated on our adventures in househunting!

{A Hylite Wedding}

So, as I stated in an earlier blog, I've been SO SUPER BUSY with weddings this summer! I haven't even had time to blog about all of them...yet. I did, however, have a chance to pull a few of my favorite images from a recent wedding I did up Hylite Canyon. I wanted to share them with you all...ENJOY!!! $20,000 later and I am now finally unemployed in Los Angeles with a 2005 Toyota Corolla. It's cute, and I am now a full time resident of Zach Kahl, Nick van Atta, and Kyle Eaton's couch. Soon to be joined by Michael Brown and Andrew Bassett. Come and visit, but don't drive.

Looks like now I'm going to be stuck in Vegas a while... It's never an easy fix when the repair guy calls you at 7am and uses the phrase "Catastrophic engine damage". Never buy a Saab.

It only looks like it's not 105 degrees

Hey all, I'm almost done with my whirlwind week. Saturday I flew down to St Louis on no sleep to photograph a band called King Thief and a clothing line called The Curtain Factory. The shoot was on Monday and it was 105 degrees not including the heat index. So for 8 hours I thought I was going to die. We drove past a bank at about 8pm during the King Thief shoot and it was still 100. Not fun. But amazingly enough the models and band didn't look like they were sweating. I flew back to Bozeman on Tuesday, packed, and drove to Billings Wednesday to put my stuff in a storage cube. Then I photographed the guitarist of my friends band who I have to photoshop into promos I did 2 weeks ago. Now I'm in Missoula to re-shoot Thrill Kiss Kill because they added a second drummer. Yeah, two drummers. I really wish I could say I was looking forward to sleeping in my own bed, but it's in a storage pod in Billings MT. Here's some unedited stuff from St Louis. This was my "assistant" Lauren. We were running the strobe off of a battery and couldn't drain it with modeling lamps, but it was so dark my camera wouldn't auto focus. So to solve the problem Lauren spot lit them with the LED lights on her pink tazer. Eat that MacGuiver!

Class questions

Hey everyone. I am trying to figure out my junior schedule for the fall and I wanted to ask for advice from those of you who have already taken your juniors. Right now I am scheduled for Experimental, Advanced Lighting/Studio, and Professional Practices this fall, but I may need to make some changes due to other conflicts and an overloaded schedule. I was curious if any of you chose to take Experimental along with your first senior (instead of during your junior year). I wondered if this might be an option for me next year (during senior). If it is, I think I would also plan to take Alt Processes during the spring of my senior year. Is this possible...and is it difficult to get registered for those classes as seniors? I understand that both experimental and alt processes are very time consuming, so I wondered how that would work with senior projects. Everyone may have a different opinion, but I just wanted to see what others thought. Thanks in advance for your help and/or suggestions!

Two Weeks with Christopher James...

Hey, I just got done with TA-ing with Cig Harvey for Christopher James for two weeks. It was the most insane two weeks of my life. We did about a million different processes; cyanotype, kallitype, van dyke brown, pt/pd, albumen, argyotype, carbon printing, ziatype to name a few. My main job was to print everyones digital negs... lets just say Christopher's process for that only slightly differs from Mark Nelsons! Here is the class photo from week 2, for every class we do a big cyanotype mural! Hope everyones summer is going well!

Quick poll

I've started working on...something. I'm not prepared to talk about it in any detail, as I'm still very early in the planning stages.

Anyway, as a part of this little project, I'm compiling a list of dumb things that we all do while we're creating our photographic work that we later end up regretting (forgetting to close the lens before removing the dark slide on a large format camera, for example).

I've come up with a small list, but I'd like to hear from you all about mistakes you've made or stories you've heard from other photographers.

Hello Everyone! I hope ya'll are enjoying your summer. I'm smack dab in the middle of wedding season, so this summer has been pretty crazy so far. I've also been working full time for Lauren Brown Photography and Larry Stanley. They have a studio @ 627 E. Peach St. if anyone ever wants to come say hi and check out the studio. There is also Classic Ink (Graphic Design), Chisel (Video Production), MNKY (Motion Graphics), and Jereco (Sound Production) all in the same building, so it's one big artsy fartsy group :) I was in Helena recently to visit family, and I snapped these shots of my boyfriends niece and nephew. I thought they were really cute and I wanted to share them. When things slow down, I will post some of my wedding and portrait work from the summer! Cheers!!!
