Color film?

Hello friends, I'm calling upon the collective to help me out.  I know nothing about color film both 4x5 and 120, they are all just color to me.  I would love some suggestions on what film has good rich color for my senior.

  1. I like Fuji myself but I know other people like Zak prefer Kodak. I would suggest shooting a roll or each and scanning them in and seeing what gives you the least hassle and what has the best tonal pallet

  2. I shoot Fuji Pro160 and Kodak Portra NC160. I like the Fuji for landscapes and the Kodak for portraits. The Fuji has a little bit to much red in skin tones for my liking but other than that they are about the same IMO. I have been shooting some film I got from the Kodak guys at SPE called E100g. Its a Transparency film that has reeeeeeeeeeallly ridiculously fine grain. Like it so far but it dosnt have the exposure leeway that the Portra or the Pro160 have.

  3. I also enjoy the fuji, but you really should find someone who has some of each so you can try them out, if you are investing for senior, I would most definitely shoot a roll of each so you can personally make that decision.

  4. The Kodak Ektar 100 is pretty good stuff. Nice fine grain.

  5. I have always been a fuji man myself. But i shot some of the new kodak ektar last year and i have to admit it kicked some ass (especially since fuji stopped making reala 100). I have heard good things about fuji 160s for portraits (havent used it myself). If you want to shoot slide film Velvia 100 is the cats pajamas.
