Go to this website and instantly be a wedding photographer! I got to 2 dozen or so before I gave up and stopped keeping track. It made me laugh anyway.

Final Images

Here are the final images for my Advanced Color project. If you haven't seen my previous post's this project is a social commentary on how people would interact with themselves if they were born as the opposite sex. Let me know what you think.

First Serious Attempt at Climbing Photography

Here are a couple of images i took in Tennessee of 2 of my climbing partners sending their first 5.13 trad climb. The route has 2 bolts but can go without. To those non-climbers out there, the climb is pretty dang hard, so quite the accomplishment. The first image is of me hanging from a rope below the massive roof these guys are climbing. The rest are the resulting images. Sad I am still shooting without my favorite lens fixed 50mm f1.4) canon is warranty"ing" it. What do you guys think?

Help Please!

With two prints left in my final project I have run out of chemicals. All I need is 24 drops of Palladium Solution to finish my project, so if any of you alt kids can help me out I am willing to pay, make you dinner, take you go-carting, what ever you want. If your willing to part with your chemicals you can pretty much find me in the lab all the time or my phone number is (406) 599-0258. Thanks guys!!

USB Business Cards

Today a lot of the photo world is about marketing yourself and your work. Everyone's trying to find the best way to stand out and then be remembered. For those of you that have never seen these, they are new to me, it might be a unique way to start handing out your business card and your portfolio. Its an investment, but its hella cool! http://www.andreonicards.com/usbbusinesscards.htm

Digital or Film?

These are two images for my final for 260 intro to color class. I am unsure with what format to use. The top image was taken with the Mamiya, and the bottom with 4x5 Kodak portra NC 160 film. What are your thoughts?

How do these look?

I'm experimenting with project ideas. I have three parallel projects going right now, all of which try to accurately show the quality of life over here, and the resilient culture (despite little or no infrastructure throughout most of Iraq).
(Above) Roadside cafe, near Fallujah. Dozens, if not hundreds of these line major highways, mixed in with makeshift truck stops. I have a small army of B&W converted images so far, but I'm not sure how or if I will use them. D300, Nikkor 80-200/2.8D, 1/350, F2.8, ISO 1600
This is from a collection of images of the lowest income class at work (Iraqis that, on average, make about $2.20 US per day, or about $800 per year). Taken along the main divided highway from Basrah up through Baghdad, Fallujah, and Ramadi, to Syria. D300, Sigma 17-50/2.8, 1/800, F5.6, ISO 400
This is from a project I have that is a collection of misc. portraits of Iraqis and their business. This young Sunni boy waits outside his family's gas station all day. I've only seen him with a handful of customers since the beginning of the year. From what I can tell, his family's house is about a two mile walk off the highway through a salt field. D300, Nikkor 80-200/2.8D, 1/125, F5.6, ISO 400

Wet Mount Scanning?

I've been reading about how wet mounting your negatives for scans is better than just using film trays. I recently bought a v700 and am curious if anyone wet mounts and what equipment you use. I've heard about ScanScience kits for one choice. I'll mainly be using medium format. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Welcome to my morning traffic.

Patricks Hard Drive Was Found!!!

I am passing along the word for Patrick that his hard drive was found! (his account wont let him post to the blog right now.) he seamed pretty stoked and wanted to say (and i quote) "thank you so much whoever brought it back!!"=]

Look at this Photography Project

Have you guys seen this?

"In 1993, a convicted murdered was executed. His body was given to science, segmented, and photographed for medical research. In 201, we used photography to put it back together."

Patricks Hard Drive

Hey guys Patrick Bakkens hard drive went missing two days ago from the demo lab, it has all his past work on it. It looks like the one pictured above. I know a lot of us have the same hard drive so just double check the contents of your hard drive to make sure you didn't grab his by mistake, and keep your eyes peeled for it. If you do find it either get it to Patrick or bring it to check out so we can get it to him.

Senior

So here are a couple of images from my senior. . . Jace. Keep in mind these are raw scans. . .
This project explores the idea of a world rid of all dominant forms of energy. I set out to create an unsettling yet visually alluring body of work in the context of a post apocalyptic setting where individuals are forced to create energy in a pseudo primitive way. Primitive in that the subjects in my photographs strive to capture energy from their own bodies. . .

Terrific news photo by Tyler

http://www.montana.edu/cpa/news/nwview.php?article=9751&pid=2 Tyler Busby is nearing the end of his news photography internship. This photo is, in my opinion, a culmination of weeks of dedication to AP-style news photography, interviewing and caption writing. This is the kind of picture that would run on the front page of just about any small-town newspaper. Make note of his composition and success at getting all the necessary 'players' in the photo to tell a concise story.

Sand

These are a few images from Huacachina Peru. I thought it'd be nice to share some sun and sand, I hear its pretty cold up in Montana these days.
